Learning to LIVE WITH our Losses - A Grief & Loss Practicum
Suffering a Loss (someone or something genuinely important to us that has been taken out of our life and we could not stop it) is a truly unique and often traumatic human experience: a deep sense of emptiness or void, combined with the feeling of complete overwhelmingness at the same time. This is experienced as a profound sense of pain. And in pain we seek to escape, to numb, to retreat to a place where we can feel, if nothing else, different. Yet, time and again, we come to the same conclusion that no matter what we have done the pain and overwhelmingness continues to lurk just around the corner, just below the surface, and if we are not vigilant it can and will over power our lives.
The anxiety this produces drives us to run further away from and to press further down the source of our pain, and yet, unbeknownst to us, we are driven further away from any hope of healing. Any one of us, if asked, would say with great earnestness and zeal that we desperately want to be set free from this vicious cycle, to reclaim the life and living that we have lost and to find peace; but how?
Our Grief & Loss Practicum is a process for healing this very hole in our lives. Material covered in four, One (1) Hour weekly sessions will demonstrate that the loss, grief, and healing process develops through three stages, and how each stage gives us the tools to reclaim our lives. That in the end, freedom from the emotional pain and emptiness leading to true peace is possible. We will learn that to live after a loss is to LIVE WITH our Losses.
